Be your own (wo)man. Do what you want to do and pursue things that will make you happy. If you try to live your life through the eyes of others, you'll only end up unfulfilled, unhappy and seeking some other lackey to live vicariously through (and the cycle continues). So live your life behind your own eyes. People who judge and criticize won't live forever, but you'll have to live with yourself the rest of your life. Do it for yourself and no one else.
