I don't claim to have gained a whole lot from my college education. Even less in the case of my one year in the journalism department. But how can you call showing grisly footage of Saddam Hussein being hung journalism? It's sensationalism. It's morbid voyeurism. But it's not journalism. Isn't that about reporting the facts? Yes he's dead. Tell us why they hung him, not show us cell phone video of his mangled corpse in a body bag. But "news" sites like CNN and Fox have the nasty vidoes as the big ticket stories. Maybe journalism has just changed from what it was originally intended to be. Now it's just playing to their voyeuristic hyena viewers. But maybe I'm just one of them.
