The Gavin MacLeod Experience

Well the 'rents and I went on a cruise to Alaska. Got to finally use my tuxedo and get all dressed up, then did some some sightseeing in the towns of Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. Even drove into Canada. Here's a few highlights from the journey:

Our "spacious stateroom right before the disaster drill. My Dad looks thrilled. I still maintain it was an excuse to get all the passengers away from their rooms so the crew could take all the valuables they wanted.

We went on a Jeep tour where 8 groups of 4 climbed into Wranglers and a tourguide pointed out things on the CB radio. We started in Skagway(Pop.800) and drove into Canada. I even got to drive on the offroading portion. Apparently a few weeks before us, someone flipped their Wrangler. It sure beat the whale-less whale watching in Juneau.

My Mom enjoyed some time playing the slot machines onboard our boat The Mercury. She did pretty well and actually covered all our incidental expenses for the trip.

Hubbard Glacier in all it's glory. Cold as all hell, but very interesting to see. I'm working on stitching together a panorama of the whole thing out of 10 pictures.

So glacier ice is so densely packed that it appears blue instead of clear. Our boat pretty much hit this chunk. Fuck you Titanic.

On the boat at night, it's pitch black. You can hardly see the water from the decks. This is a 8 second exposure of the moon, because it was too dark to capture otherwise. I thought it turned out kinda cool.

So that's the highlights. I got tons more pictures, but I won't bore you with them here.
